About thefoodsex.com

My name is Katie, and I’m a 24 year old human resources professional/grad student/bass player from Pittsburgh who loves to cook.

That’s me. I’m buckets of fun, I swear.
I was mostly raised by an Italian grandmother, so my obsession with food is practically innate. I have subscriptions to Cooking Light, Bon Appetit and The Vegetarian Times. I watch the Food Network constantly. I think about food the way frat boys think about sex. Hence, thefoodsex!
I went vegetarian about six years ago, a fact that still haunts the aforementioned Italian grandmother. (”Just eat the soup! It won’t hurt you!”) About a year and a half ago, I decided to incorporate more fish into my diet, so I guess I could be considered a pescatarian.
But then! Then I started putting on a little weight and generally feeling bad and sluggish and gross because we’d been eating so poorly, so I decided to eat mainly vegan for the foreseeable future. I don’t want to put any restrictions on myself (other than my long-held restriction of no meat) but most of the recipes you’ll be seeing from me will probably be vegan. For now.
I live with an adorable nerd named Rob, and two cats. Rob is a full-blooded meatie who is a bit terrified of vegetables, but after two years with me, he’s getting used to them. He takes all the pictures for this site, and reviews the food on a scale of one to ten hot dogs. Why hot dogs? I have no idea, but he loves them.
When I began taking graduate classes in the evenings this year, Rob promised he’d cook dinner one night a week. He’s not the best or most experienced cook, but he is allowing me to document what he’s doing in the kitchen, so it should be pretty interesting.
So, this is about what we eat.
YOU ARE SO INTERESTED!! I knew it.
